There was a big roll up of golfers for the Lithgow Golf Club’s two ball aggregate and after months of soggy fairways that gave up no “run” the ball was running out again with the extra length off the tee much appreciated.
One player who really revelled in the conditions was Julie Murnane (23) who not only drove the ball well but was excellent around the greens. After playing good steady golf over the front nine with a score of 19 points she then played some of best golf of her career to come home over the back nine to amass 25 points for a total of 44 points all up. She combined with Kim Burton (26) who played steady golf to register the winning score of 74 points.
They had to survive a countback with runners up Ken Mitchell (13) and Alan Mostyn (11) who also carded a score of 74 points. Mostyn also enjoyed good golf over the back nine wing 22 points on his way to 39 points with Mitchell also impressive with 38 points.
A single event was held in conjunction which was won by Michael Saville (12) with a score of 39 points. Runner up was Nathan Mitchell (22) on 38 points.
Vouchers went to those with 68 points and better and they were Max and Justin McCann, Max Nightingale, Michael Bennett, Matt Whitney, Travis Cameron, Justin Nelson, Dean Stafford, Dave Thompson, Steve Hall, Mark Seckold, Paul Stewart, John Bird, Paul Bailey, Greg Guest, Carlos Garibotto and Rob Edwards.
Nearest the pins were Blake Goldspink, Carlos Garibotto, Paul Stewart, Alan Mostyn and Rodney Clarke.
Monday 18 hole competition:
It was a good couple of days for the Murnane family with Leo following on with his wife Julie’s success when he took out the event with 40 points.
Runner up was George Smith (visitor) on 38 points and Dave Warren third on 38 points.
Vouchers went to Paul Bailey, Darren Healey, Dave Titcume, Manual Pro, Leo Francis, Dave Hicks, Julie Murnane, Carlos Garibotto, Robert Lockhart, Graham Tyson, Simon Dundon, Martin Everett, Ted Healey and Owen Younger. Cut was 31 points.
Nearest to the pins were Leo Murnane and Dave Titcume.
Wednesday PFD Food Services nine hole competition:
Winner was Michael Bennett on 16 points.
Runner up was Steve McCann on 15 points counting out third placed Greg Guest.
Vouchers went to Evan Carter, Brett Egan, Dave Hicks, Heath Egan, Ricky Cohen, Paul Bailey,Alan Mostyn, Dave Thompson, Paul Stewart and Mick Battiste. Nearest to the pins were Juan Farmer and Craig Pugsley.
Friday Central West Leak Detection and Plumbing nine hole competition:
Winner was Brian Judge with a a massive 26 points.
Runner up Blake Goldspink counted out his father Les into third place with both returning 17 points.
Vouchers went to Mike Saville, Josh Hogarth, Rod Bright and Evan Carter. Cut was 15 points ocb.
