On one of the hottest days for some time, Lithgow golfers contested a stableford event and for those walking it was hard going. A grade saw an interesting battle and after two countbacks, it was Dave Thompson that took the winning voucher from runner up Rod Bright. Both are off handicaps of five, both are two of the biggest hitters in the club, both went out in 37 and then came home in 36 to give them 40 points. It took a further countback which saw Thompson play the final six holes in one under par while Bright finished his six holes in even par. Both have been in excellent form of late with Bright finishing runner up in consecutive weeks.
The best stableford score of the day came out of B grade with Rob Peachman (14) amassing the excellent score of 42 points.
He played consistent golf returning 40 off the stick on both nines and it was a bit of a relief for him scoring a win after his wife Christine has enjoyed bragging rights being the one winning all the prizes over the last couple of months. Runner up was Steve Mays (10) with a score of 38 points.
Carol Burton (31) stepped up to continue the ladies dominance of C grade with an excellent 36 points which was good scoring on greens that are still inconsistent, but are gradually coming good following the recent coring. Runner up was Neil Hutchinson (20) with a score of 34 points. Others to play well and win vouchers were Kyle Egan, Travis Cameron, Brian Judge, Geoff Wheeler, Dennis Wallace, Justin McCann, Chris Neville, Josh Jones and Blake Goldspink. Vouchers cut out on 36 points on a countback.
