It was back to winter for Saturday’s field of golfers at the Lithgow Golf Club who had to contend with rain, strong winds and low temperatures. It was surprising to see just how good the top three scores were, but it even more surprising just how many golfers turned out to play in the miserable conditions.
The winner was Darren Hunter (1) who is one of the club’s more experienced players and Hunter showed all his expertise to amass 40 points. Hunter played superb golf in the tough conditions shooting a round of 69 which featured six birdies, Runner up after being counted out was a visitor from Blackheath Bradley Howell (10) who also finished with 40 points, but unluckily could not match Hunter’s 22 points on the back nine. In third spot was Harry Bender (+1) who has been on fire in recent weeks with the current club champion finishing with 39 points after shooting a round of 68 off the stick. Vouchers cut out on 34 points and went to Nathan Harris, Paul Cinat, Chris Keller and Graham Dean.
Nearest to the pins winners were Harry Bender and Justin McCann.
