After last week’s miserable cold and wet weather Lithgow golfers were met with near ideal conditions and they turned out in force to compete in the January monthly medals which were again sponsored by Henry’s Plant and Equipment Hire.
The greens were extremely quick catching golfers off guard, but the conditions did play into the hands of Carol Osborne (28) who had just returned from enjoying a holidaying on the Gold Coast and was used to playing on extremely speedy greens. Osborne returned the best nett score of the way with an impressive 66 nett which gave her the winning C grade voucher. Runner up was Neil Hutchinson (24) on 71 nett and due to Osborne not being eligible for the medal it went to him. Best scratch score was returned by Brad Preston (20) with a score of 94.
The A grade voucher and medal went to Graham Dean (9). Over the past month or so, Dean has been extremely consistent and up among the placings on a regular basis. He set up his win with an excellent 37 off the stick on the front nine. Runner up on a countback was Brett Scanlan (9) with a nett score of 70.
Another golfer who has had his game in order for a long period is scratch winner Damien Marjoram (scratch) who finished with a score of 72.
Winner of the B grade medal and voucher was Lachlan Roach (17) who is a relatively newcomer to competition golf but he showed good skills to register a score of 68 nett. Runner up was consistent performer Steve Mays (12) who finished with a score of 72 nett.
