Golfers were met with misty rain that blew in and out during Saturday’s stableford event but it did not deter another good field with the Lithgow course’s green now back to their best after the recent coring. The best stableford score of the day came out of C grade with Margaret Cafe (35) continuing the women’s dominance of this grade amassing the big score of 40 points.
Cafe had a strong back nine with 22 points to secure her impressive win. After the first countback it was Bright and runner up Nightingale (7) who tied with 18 points on the back nine with the other two dropping out. A further countback was needed over the last six holes with Bright finishing the stronger with his one under par over these holes.
A countback was also needed in B grade after the two placegetters finished on 38 points. It was Carlos Garibotto (10) who came out on top of runner up Rob George (16) with Garibotto scoring 21 points on the back nine compared with George’s 19.
