It was dual competitions at the Lithgow Golf Club with some of the field playing in the annual Keno Two Person Ambrose while the others contested a single stableford. The winners of the competitions registered magnificent scores and fully deserved their wins with the course near under water due to the heavy rain that fell throughout the week.
The Keno Two Person Ambrose was won by the combination of Damien Marjoram (3) and Geoff Thompson (10) for a combined handicap of 3.25 The pair combined to perfection for a seven under par 65 to give them a clear win on 61.75 nett. Runners up on 64 nett was the team of Josh Jones (16) and Dean Stafford (12) for a combined handicap of 7 and they finished with a scratch score of 71. Vouchers went to Anthony Boza, Brendon Van Veen, Ian Downey, Don Wolfenden, Harry Bender and Kyle Egan. Cut was 65 nett. Nearest the pins from both events went to Paul Cinat, Jim Heterick, Carol Burton, Harry Bender and Carol Burton.
It was a huge week for birthday girl Christine Peachman (31) who finished runner up in the Vets Monday event and then carried on her birthday celebrations on Saturday with one of her best rounds to date to take out the stableford. Relishing the heavy conditions Peachman finished a massive nine shots ahead of her nearest rival when she amassed the big score of 41 points. Peachman played consistent golf with nines of 20 and 21 points.
Runner up was Justin McCann (+1). After unusually struggling over the front nine, McCann got his game together on the back nine to finish with 36 strokes to give him 18 points. Vouchers went to Carol Burton, Kim Flynn and Neil Hutchinson. Cut was 30 points ocb.
Lithgow Vets Competition.
The women golfers continue to enjoy their wave of success and this time it was Carol Osborne who led the way. Osborne played some excellent golf in the difficult conditions and amassed the big total of 41 points finishing two points in front of her nearest rival.
Runner up was Christine Peachman who is enjoying a purple patch of good form and she finished with 39 points. In third position on 36 points was Mark Mann. Vouchers went to Leo Francis, Kim Burton, Craig Pugsley, Carol Burton, Russ Jeffery and Darren Healey. Cut was 33 points ocb. Nearest to the pins were Dave Titcume and Craig Pugsley.
Friday Central West Leak Detection and Plumbing Nine Hole Competition:
The winner was Graeme Osborne on 21 points making it a good week for the Osborneās. Runner up was Michael Saville on 19 points with Rod Bright third on 18 points. Vouchers went to Blake Goldspink, Corey Osborne, Dave Thompson, Rob George, Ross King, Chris Goodsell and Steve Cutler. Cut was 14 points on a countback. Nearest to the pin was Dave Thompson.
