There was a good field of golfers on hand for the Lithgow Golf Club stableford event considering that there were a dozen or so enjoying a golfing sojourn on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland but the winners of the Lithgow event were making their own ‘sunshine’ at home with some outstanding scores being recorded.
Once again the greens were extremely slow following the yearly coring and the majority of the field struggled getting the pace of the greens while a handful found them very much to their liking.
The best score of the day came out of B grade with Ken Mitchell (14) excelling on the greens with an outstanding front nine of 36 to set up his win.He continued his charge over the back nine to finish with 47 points which was one of the best scores of the year.
Runner up to Mitchell was Corey Osborne (17) who showed last week’s win was no fluke when he recorded a score of 39 points.
Winner of A grade was Gary Wallace (5) who was ‘on fire’ over the first five holes with an amazing five under par after five holes which boasted eagles on the first and fifth par five holes and a birdie on the second.
