With the drier weather comes bigger scores with golfers benefitting from the extra run on the harder fairways. There were some outstanding scores during the Lithgow Golf Club’s stableford and the standard of play during the day can be seen by the fact that vouchers cut out on 36 points on a countback. Best stableford score on the day came out of B grade with Matt Whitney (15) accumulating 43 points. Whitney blitzed the first five holes where he was two under and then went on to turn with 23 points. He consolidated his win with a further 20 points on the back nine. Runner up was the “hottest” golfer over the past couple of weeks with Corey Osborne (15) continuing on his winning way with a score of 41 points which boasted 24 points on the front nine. Osborne has dramatically cut down his handicap enjoying a “purple patch” that has seen him a regular in the placings each week.
Winner of A grade was Greg Jackson (9) with a score of 40 points. His front nine was a real roller coaster with four birdies, one par, three bogies and a double bogey for a score of 37 off the stick. Runner up was the big hitting Rod Bright (5) on 39 points who played consistent golf scoring 74 off the stick.
Another inform golfer is Christine Peachman (25) winning the C grade voucher with a score of 42 points. Peachman was runner up last Saturday and then backed up on Wednesday to win the ladies gold medal. Runner up was another talented golfer in Julie Murnane (21) with a score of 37 points continuing the dominance of the women in C grade.
Vouchers went to Jeff Geddes, Josh Jones, Mitchell Wallace, Rob Peachman, Mitch Luka, Anthony Boza, Dave Titcume, Blake Goldspink, Max McCann, Michael Bennett, Rob George, Olwyn King and Troy Luka. Nearest to the pins were John Bird, Phillip Rooke, Steve Hall (2) and Justin Nelson.
Monday Vets:
More good scores were recorded by the placegetters with Dave Warren outstanding with 43 points. Runner up was Ken Mitchell on 42 points on a countback from third placed Marie Hackett.
Vouchers went to Brian Quick, Kevin Eagleton, Carlos Garibotto and Darren Healey. Cut was 15 points. Nearest to the pins were Carlos Garibotto and Rick Cohen.
Wednesday PFD Food Services nine hole competition:
Winner was Jarred Pattison with 23 points.
Runner up was Rick Cohen on 19 points from third placed Ron Phelan 18 points. Vouchers went to Juan Farmer, Ashton Hunter, Chris Goodsell, Wayne Morris and Heath Egan. Cut was 15 ocb.
Nearest to the pins were Ron Phelan and Rick Cohen.
Friday Central West Leak Detection and Plumbing nine hole competition:
Winner on 21 points was Peter Bourke. Runner up was Dave Thompson on 20 points and third was Les Goldspink 19 points ocb. Vouchers went to Blake Goldspink, Rod Bright, Brendan Roach, Mark Fletcher and Steve Cutler. Cut was 17 points ocb.
Nearest to the pin was Paul Stewart.
