The big events just keep on coming over the past month which have been attracting big fields at the Lithgow Golf Club with the latest being the Summer Cup. There was an added bonus, with the November monthly medals that were deferred due to the weather being held in conjunction. The Summer Cup trophies were donated by Blayney Foods and the medals by Henry’s Plant and Equipment Hire and a big thanks go to them from the club.
The November medals were all won by the Cup grade winners with all three carding 66 nett. After battling extra slow greens due to the recent coring they were back to their near best with golfers now having to factor in the extra speed of the greens.
The A grade winner was one of the club’s ‘big time’ players who usually rises to the big occasions. Former Club champion Damien Marjoram (2) added another medal to his growing collection that also boasts a gold medal. His 66 nett saw him record 5 birdies, an eagle along with three bogies and nine pars. His strength is his driving off the tee which gives him the best opportunities coming into the greens. Runner up was Ian Downey (7) who finished with 68 on a countback while the best scratch score went to Chris Neville (scratch) with a 68 off the stick.
The B grade trophy and medal went to Don Wolfenden (10) who has been playing some good golf of late and put two consistent nines of 38 off the stick to give him 66 nett. Runner up was another inform player in Matt Whitney (14) who finished with 69 nett. Best scratch score went to Michael Casey (11) with a score of 85 on a countback.
The C grade winner was Kel Lampton (20) put it all together to record the excellent score of 66 nett which also earned him his November medal. Runner up was Graeme Osborne (24) who has been a regular in the placings over the past weeks. He finished with a score of 71 nett while the best scratch score went to Rod Clarke (19) with a 92. The play off for the C grade October monthly medal went to ‘world traveller’ John Murnane.
Vouchers went to Harry Bender, Steve Hall, Blake Goldspink, Dave Thompson, Chris Keller, Evan Carter, Bill Oldfield, Kyle Egan and Travis Cameron. Cut was 71 nett neat.
Nearest to the pins were Gary Wallace, Max Nightingale, Justin Nelson, Kyle Egan and Dave Warren.
Wednesday PFD Food Services nine hole competition:
Winner was Steve Jennings with a score of 20 points on a countback. Runner up also on 20 points was Ken Mitchell with third place going to Brian Quick with 18 on a countback. Vouchers went to Jeff Geddes, Alan Mostyn, Paul Bailey, James Bennett, Brodie, Carlos Garibotto, Rob George, Michael Bennett and Juan Farmer. Cut was 14 points ocb. Nearest to the pins were Juan Farmer and Rob Peachman.
Friday Central West Leak Detection and Plumbing nine hole competition:
Winner on 20 points was Matt Whitney. Runner up was Dave Thompson on 19 points (which was a two under 34 off the stick).
Third place was Dallas Tilley on 18 points ocb.
Vouchers went to Wayne Morris, Darren Hunter and Luke Bennett. Cut was 18 points ocb.
