There is no better place to be during the festive season than on the picturesque Lithgow fairways with golfers looking for that last chance to post a good round before the year 2024 closes.
It was good to see Lithgow golfers take advantage of four designated events with big fields teeing off in the Vets Christmas competition, the holiday two person ambrose, the Friday nine hole event and the very popular monthly medals. Golfers were keen to collect the last medals of the year and qualify for the gold medal 2024 play offs next year.
The best score from the December medal round went to Josh Jones (15) who again showed he has the potential to take his handicap into A grade, His front nine of 38 set up his win and finished with nett score of 66 nett which was good enough to secure the B grade medal. Runner up was Nick Miller (17) on 68 nett while the best nett score went to Darren Healey (10) with a score of 79 off the stick ocb. Nathan Marshall (4) who lives next to the golf club spends a lot of time honing his skills and his efforts are certainly paying off. Marshall finished with a score of 69 nett but will now play off next month for the A grade medal against Ian Downey and Blake Goldspink who also finished on 69 nett. Nathan was extremely consistent with 37 on the front nine and then come home with 36 for a one over par 73. Runner up was visitor Phil Rooke (9) who also finished with 69 nett. Best scratch score went to Damien Marjoram (1) with 73. He has had a superb couple of weeks capturing some big titles.
The C grade voucher also went to a visitor with Jake Monk (36) from Wagga Wagga scoring 68 nett.
Because medals can only be won by Lithgow members, it went to runner up Nathan Harris (28) on 70 nett while the best scratch score went to Julie Murnane (20) who has enjoyed an extremely memorable 2024 and finished with a score of 94.
Vouchers went to those with 71 nett on a countback.
Nearest to the pins were Justin McCann, Mark Seckold, Jonathan Van Veen, Kim Burton and Adrian Sharp.
Vets Christmas event.
The Vets was once again dominated by the club’s band of talented women with Christine Peachman who has been in outstanding form of late a clear winner on 40 points. Runner up on 38 points on a countback was Julie Murnane while Kev Hughes held up the men’s reputation with 38 points.

Boxing Day 2 Person Ambrose
The Ambrose had a real family day feel about it with a number of family combinations enjoying the day.
The winners with a score of 59.25 nett was Steve Mays and Matt Nelson. In second place was Graeme Osborne and son Gary on 60.5 nett while Michael Bennett and son Luke finished third with 63 nett.

Friday nine hole competition:
For those that still wanted more golf the usual nine hole event was held with Brian Judge the winner on 20 points and Julie Murnane runner up on 18 points. Wayne Clarke and Leo Murnane won vouchers and Brian Judge was nearest to the pin.
