It is not often that three plus one handicappers win a two ball aggregate golf event and the single event. But this was the case when low markers Harry Bender teamed up with Damien Marjoram to win the two ball with the impressive score of 75 points.
Both are former club champions and they produced all their skills in pretty ordinary conditions with Bender finishing with a personal score of 37 points featuring 5 birdies while Marjoram went one better with 38 points and he had four birdies. Both golfers stormed over the back nine with 34 off the stick.
Runners up were Kyle Egan (7) and Graeme Osborne (21) with the star of the team being Egan who amassed a total of 39 points. His back nine was outstanding when he recorded 23 points following a 35 off the stick. Osborne has been in good form of late and he was again solid with a personal score of 35 points.
A single event was held in conjunction and it was the third +1 handicapper that took out the winning prize with Steve Hall registering a score of 40 points. Hall shot a round of 67 boasting four birdies and an eagle. Runner up was Anthony Oldfield (4) with a score of 39 points. Vouchers went to Blake Bender, Dennis Wallace, John Murnane, Darren Hunter, Kobe Hunter, Robbie Millar, Kel Lampton, Rob Hawes, Graham Dean, Rob George, Rob Peachman, Blake Goldspink and Les Goldspink. Vouchers cut out on 66 points on a countback. Nearest to the pins were Mitchell Luka, Jason Murray, Rob Hawes, Rod Bright and Max McCann.
