With two holes to go Lithgow golfer Rod Bright (4) was enjoying a great round sitting on score of +3 and was only one over par with two holes to go in the versus par competition.
With a bit of bad luck he then posted minus scores on the 17th and 18th holes to finish his round on +1. He thought that he had ‘blown’ his second win in a couple of weeks but was pleasantly surprised that he still had the best score in A grade to take out another winning grade A grade voucher. Justin McCann (+2) had to survive a countback to claim the runner up title when he finished with a square score that featured five birdies.
Like the A grade winner Bright, the B grade winner Rob George (16) has also enjoyed a couple of wins during February.
George was in a countback with runner up Kelvin Lampton (17) who also carded a score of +2 but due to his excellent back nine of +2 round he took out the win. The unlucky Lampton and George shared the best scores of the day.
A relatively newcomer to competition golf Brodie Carter (19) finished with a square round after coming home strong over the back nine with +2 to take out C grade. Runner up was Carol Burton (30) who played consistent golf throughout her round to finish with -1.
Those to play well and win vouchers were Josh Jones, Jason Murray, Ian Downey, Dave Thompson, Don Wolfenden, Jeff Geddes, Matt Whitney, Michael Saville, Robbie Millar, Geoff Thompson, Peter Hall, Ben Oldfield, Greg Jackson, Chris Goodsell, Chris Neville, Rob Hawes, Dave Marshall and Max McCann. Cut was -3.
Nearest to the pins were: 2nd Ian Downey (278cm), 4th Jeff Geddes (440cms), 9th Mr ‘Accuracy’ Dave Titcume (217cms) and he struck again on the 13th (125cms); 18th Justin Nelson (220cms).
The PFD Food Services Wednesday nine hole competition:
Winner was Brian Judge with a score of 21 points.
Runner up was Evan Carter on 20 points and in third spot was Brian Quick on 18 points. Vouchers went to Max Nightingale, Rob George, Luke Bennett, Scott Hunter, Dave Thompson, Wayne Morris, Adrian Sharp, Darren Healey, Peter Williams, Ken Durie and Ron Phelan. Cut was 14 points ocb. Nearest to the pins were Trent Young on the ninth (220cms) and Stephen Little on the 18th (210cms).
Central West Leak Detection and Plumbing nine hole Friday competition:
Winner was Don Farnsworth on 22 points.
Luke Bennett was runner up on 21 points and in third place was Mark Fletcher on 20 points on a countback.
Vouchers went to Dallas Tilley, Adrian Sharp and Mike Saville. Cut was 19 points ocb. Nearest to the pin on the ninth was John Bird (299cms).
