It was a huge day of golf at the Lithgow Golf Club this week with a number of events being held in conjunction with the February monthly medals that were again sponsored by Henry’s Plant and Equipment Hire.
The prestigious Gold Medal play offs were held for those that had won monthly medals during 2024 along with a stroke event also up for grabs in each grade.
The Gold Medal winners were Rob Hawes in A grade with a 69 nett; Dean Stafford (12) was successful in B grade and Nathan Harris (27) was the C grade gold medalist.
There was some excellent scoring in the three grades with the best nett score coming out of B grade with the inform Corey Osborne (14) winning the voucher with a score of 66 nett on a countback.
Since Osborne has become serious with his golf over the past year he has cut down his handicap dramatically. The highlight of his round was an impressive 38 off the stick on the back nine.
Beaten on a countback was Lachlan Roach (16) and although he had the disappointment of losing the winning voucher on a countback he did come out of the day pretty well after ‘winning the cash’ on the 18th hole when his tee shot finished 26 centimetres from the hole to give him the Pro Pin prize. Osborne and Roach will play off for the February monthly medal during the March monthly medals.
Rod Hawes (11) took out the best scratch score with a round of 80.
The A grade medal will also be played for next month after Blake Bender (4) and Troy Luka (2) both carded rounds of 70 nett.
Both Luka and Bender has 35 off the stick on the back nine causing a further count back of their final six holes with Bender coming up trumps with a one under par score.Best scratch score went to Justin McCann (+1) with a two under par 70.
It was all smiles from Heidi Inwood (27) after she turned in one of her best rounds on what was a testing day with the course set up extremely hard. Inwood finished with a 68 nett that will see her handicap further reduced.
Due to the medals only eligible to male members, the C grade medal and runner up prize went to Dave Muir (24) with a score of 71 nett. Leo Murnane (20) was also in good form finishing with the best C grade scratch score with a 97.
Those to play well and win vouchers were Dean Stafford, Geoff Wheeler, Pat Wall, Justin Nelson, Leonie Hughes, Carlos Garibotto, Dave Marshall, Brendan Roach, Jeff Geddes, Michael Saville and Anthony Boza. Vouchers cut out on 73 nett on a countback.
Nearest to the pins saw Dave Titcume again shown his accurate iron play with another two prizes as was the case last week he took the the 2nd (160cms) and the 9th (177cms). Other winners were Paul Stewart on the 4th (246cms); Josh Howarth on the 13th (48cms) and Lachlan Roach on the 18th (26cms).
